My unwanted vacation turns to be a most wanted vacation.
Have you ever gone on a vacation that you didn’t want to take? During the spring break of my sixth grade year I went down to the Dominican Republic, now people would love to do that but I didn’t. However, once I got there I found out about scuba diving and made it my new hobby. One that trip several great things happened, I made a great decision, had three days of training, took a plunge in to the Caribbean and loved my first scuba dive of my life.
The decision was the first big obstacle to begin a great adventure of scuba diving. At first I was a little nervous but got to test everything out in the pool at our hotel. It was great I had so much fun it is hard to describe. I had about 50lbs of “stuff” on my back and was really scared thinking I couldn’t swim with all of it but once under water it was weight less. After having so much fun testing it I decided to give it a shot.
After several das of tiresome training, I was finally able to take my first dive into the open sea. Me and my instructor took a boat with all our gear and headed out to a little reef called “El Nino”. Once there we geared up and my instructor entered the water, and at that moment I was terrified. I couldn’t see the bottom!! After five minutes of convincing me to enter, my instructor lured me in to the water. Once I went under, I opened my eyes and was astonished. There were thousands if not millions of beautiful fish and corals everywhere. I saw reds, blues, greens, yellows, purples, and every color you could imagine all on fish in coral in such brilliance I was stunned. I waded there more minutes socking upon the scenery before starting to swim around the beautiful reef. I spent countless hours down there see things most people could only see in pictures. There were fish and corals that I never would of though of seeing in such brilliance. However, a scuba tank only holds so much air so my fantastic dive cam to an end 2 hours later. Once back on board, we returned to the beach and I told my parents everything.
The next day I went on two more dives and discovered even more amazing things. During my trip to the Caribbean I took up scuba diving as a new hobby. I left my house with no idea of what to expect but returned mentally, braver, stronger, and less skeptical of unknown things. I even had a new knowledge of what I believe is the best thing ever, scuba diving!!!!
