A sincere child’s prayer answered in a modern, magical way.
Thank you, Jesus.

Dear Jesus,
Please come to my birthday party
It starts at 2.30 pm and finishes at 4.30 pm
It’s at 4 Mary Close, Westleigh, Northampton
Love Shyam
(PS There’ll be balloons outside in case you get lost and my Daddy’s new big car is in the driveway – it’s red. And people bring presents for the birthday boy – boys don’t get pink presents. Will Mary let you come? Will I get my Mummy to ask her? She will if you like)
Dear Jesus,
Sorry you didn’t come – were you bold or tired? I had a GREAT party. My Godmother, Colette, came and she brought me the DS – Thank you, Jesus.
Love Shyam

Next morning, Rishika was in Shyam’s house with her Mum. ‘Amma’, she called her Mummy, ‘I’ve no fairy Godmother like Shyam has’. Girija volunteered her services. ‘You’re no good – I need one from here like Shyam has – they do magic’
Later that week, in the back of Shyam’s mother’s car, Shyam and Rishika were talking:
‘Do you know, Rishika, I always wanted a DS.’
Girija, Shyam’s Mum, said – ‘You never mentioned it until you got it for your birthday, Shyam’ He replied ‘but I did, Mummy – I told Jesus – only two people knew – just me and Jesus. And he e-mailed Colette and told her to bring it to me. That’s all you have to do, Rishika, if you really want something – all you have to do is ask Jesus and he e-mails someone to get it for you!’
