My Mom has had MS for years, I just had to raise awareness for it.

The Terrible Disease

Imagine that if about 8 or 9 years from now you are not able to walk, lift your legs, get up an go to the bathroom, feed your self, dress your self, clean your house, drive your kids around or anything any normal mom would be able to do. Well essentially that is what has been happening to my Mom for the last about 10 years. Yea its that serious. Its very sad, and its also very hard to deal with personally, but anything I feel I cant even imagine what my Mom is thinking now. My Mom used to do everything for my family, she was a nurse all her life, she spent her whole life up until now taking care of those in need at hospitals, schools for the handicap, and many other various medical places. So is it just irony or fate or, I really don’t know but my Mom was diagnosed with MS about ten years ago and it proceeded to flip my family upside down. T

The women who use to make my dad, my sisters, and me sit down and have family dinner every night, we now have to feed, change, help get dresses, go to the bathroom, help in and out of bed, we basically have to do everything for her now because she cant do it herself. I don’t really think anyone that is fully functioning would ever think they would need someone to feed them when their 48, but MS is truly a terrible disease. They have been working on a cure for years but there really is no cure in sight because science really doesn’t know that much about Multiple Sclerosis. I am trying to ask for help in spreading info about MS and how bad of a disease it really is. There currently are many different fundraisers that are out there for MS you can do MS walks or just put a dollar in a fundraising jar it doesn’t have to be for MS I’m just trying to help people in very bad situation, and one of the only ways I can think of to help my Mom is spread awareness of MS so please if you have even an ounce of compassion help someone who is less fortunate then you are because you never know maybe one day you will be that less fortunate person waiting for someone to come help you.

I also have a progresive, degenerative neurological disease. Friedreich’s Ataxia is similar to MS, MD and Parkinson’s, but it is not as well known. As someone who can truly emphathize with your mother, I thank you for your compassion and raising awareness to disabilities, especially MS. Your mom would be proud!

I was diagnose with MS 9 years ago but here recently it’s taking a toll on me. I am able to get around, noone to take care of me yet. I hope it don’t come to that situation. I try to keep active and stay strong.

I commend you for your advocacy and devotion to raising awareness for MS. My daughter is handicapped (mitochondrial disease.) It is pitiful how many people have no idea about debilitating diseases. Thank you.

It is thoughtful of you spreading the word about MS because I don’t think alot of people know how serious it can be. I’m sorry you have to watch your mom go through it.
