How to keep friends when you move away from them.

I finally decided that I would need a cell phone.  The cell phone is used to talk to all my friends.  If I can be smart, it will not cost me much.  If I buy a five dollar go card for the phone, it should last me five weeks.  The plan is to only use my phone on Saturday.  Because all my friends have the same network as I do, we are able to all talk on Saturday for just one dollar to talk to however many people I want to talk to in that day.  It has been the only thing to keep me and my friends in touch with no problems.  The only problem is that there is no time where we actually can see each other.  These kids do not understand that I ran out of money because it magically appears in their wallets.

In order to avoid having to go through how I ran out of money every time that they asked me to come over or to go bowling, I had to come up with a bunch of excuses.  These excuses range anywhere from I am sick to my car will not run.  The good thing is that they usually believe me, and by the time the next day comes, most of them do not even remember us talking.  Therefore, I do not feel so much guilt when I have to lie to them.

These methods worked for me and are still working today.  My friends and I talk once a week on a cell phone in order to stay in touch, and that way when we see each other, we will still know what is going on in each other’s lives.  It is very important for long distant friends to stay in touch, especially when they are all mentally challenged.  If I keep using these methods, I think I will have a long friendship with all these kids.
