Based upon my hunting experiences with my dad a few years ago.

As the deer passed down from the hill directly to the left side of the window I quickly got the deer in my scope. Looking through the scope the deer’s body appeared to be too large for the scope. Only seeing parts of the deers body I quickly navigated to the lungs and heart which were vital areas for the deer. This spot is right behind the deers shoulder and is about the size of a plate at perfect profile shot. Because the deer was moving briskly closer I couldn’t shoot. I waited until the deer was in perfect shooting position and I said to my Dad that I was ready for him to stop the deer is a call. As soon as my Dad sounded off the call the deer did not really get time to stop before I shot him perfectly in the lungs.

By this time, time appeared to be back to normal but my heart fluttering at a rapped pace due to the massive amounts of adrenaline that was pumped into me. The deer continued to run down into the valley and taking a half circle left it collapsed and died. At the time I had no idea how big the deer actually was because I was more focused at shooting this creature when I saw that it was larger then any deer I have ever seen alive in my entire life. My Dad was shaking as if he just went through the scariest horror experience there ever was.

We waited for several minutes to make sure that the animal passed on and since we had a lot of our stuff unpacked we quickly packed that up while we waited. We exchanged words of excitement and questions on how big it really way. Along with more noise produced in one minutes than we did all day so far, we soon exited the deer hut to be met by the warmer but still very cold weather. About a hundred and fifty yards away we came up on the dead deer and both my Dad and I were shocked at the massive size.

At the time I shot the deer, it was both the largest deer I shot myself but also on my Dad’s entire farm. The most amazing thing about this was that how a day that turned out to be boring and full of no events really worth mentioning becomes the day that I shot the twelve point deer. Previous to this I only shot a small deer in about four years of hunting and I have not even had the expectations for shooting anything larger then six points on the rack.
