A healthy relashionship in hard times.

My grand-father was raised during the Great Depression and from this experience he brought forth a great deal of wisdom. In today’s economy that wisdom is something that has helped me through. The one thing he shared with me was that you should always get something for yourself on payday. It might be something small like a boquet of flowers, or such but it should be something. This way you don’t feel like all you are doing is working and saving.

We’ve been doing that for our entire marriage, and it’s really made a difference. I stay home with the children, so getting something of a treat each payday really makes for the weeks. It has helped to keep our spirits up even when things are tight. We always manage to find the funds for it, and it’s always something special.

What do you do to brighten your paydays for yourself?
