The things we did in out youth, seemed so very easy but when we have to approach it as an adult who is forty-plus it can be very scary, making me very nervous.

Forty-Plus And Oh So Nervous

Image via Wikipedia

I am somewhat of the nervous type, and I believe it comes from growing up and different situation; but for the most part I am a confident person. Well that is what people tell me, but deep inside there is a mini-me panicking to a degree; I always want to work things out and make sure everything goes smoothly. I also like everyone to have a good time and have fun!

Now at the age of forty-plus I find myself in unfamiliar territory, and nervous. As a youth I went to school and worked in a local five and dime store; as a youth we have no fear. After school instead of going to college I wanted out, so off to Wall Street I went with no skill, I barely typed and hated talking on the telephone but fearlessly I went out looking for work. No big deal I had two jobs in NYC, the first one was horrible and I lasted about four months. The second one was great, I was very comfortable and I stayed there for about 7 years. I left because I was too pregnant to work anymore, I left mid September, and my son was born mid October; I would not have lasted, much longer working.

After his birth I did not return to any form of consist employment, I would baby-sit for other moms; which helped a bit. It was when my son was about three half that my husband was approached with a job offer, which he hated, but I took it over, that my life changed.

Self employment does give lot of confidence. Still as you say you need that external support from someone. Interesting write.

I liked the article. I think every one needs a little bit of external support. You got one and that’s really good for you!

You will be fine after the first few days, once you have settled in. I enjoyed the article.
