I was on my way home from iHop and this happened. Check it out…

People often ask me “Why don’t you give anything to the homeless” and my response is always this story that I am about to share with you all…

My friends and I had decided to go to the movies and from the movies to iHop. On the way to iHop, I was asked for five dollars so me being me, I gave the money to the homeless women. About an hour pasts and now we are ready to go home. I get on the train and get ready to go home when I realize this homeless man keeps staring at my bag that I got from iHop. (I had my pancakes in there that I had planned on eating the next morning) The guy finally asks me to give whatever I can so I gave him the bag with my pancakes in it. He was so happy and thankful until he saw what it was! Once he saw it was pancakes, he looked at me and threw the bag on the floor, laid down on the chair and closed his eyes. I am now pissed off because I was going to eat the pancakes the next morning. I said to myself “Did I just get rejected by a homeless person”. I just gave about 10 dollars worth of pancakes that I didn’t even touch and he just throws them on the floor. How can you be so damn disrespectful and how can you be in need of food and reject what I have to offer… That really Grinds My Gears and that is why I rarely give what to homeless people.

I should have said “I do not see anything wrong with your hands, feet, speech so take your ass back to school or go get a job! You over here asking me for my food (are pancakes food? Hmm I wonder) when you could be working and getting money for your own. I have been through hell and back and I have made it. I was on the street at 16 years of age to 18 years of age but I did what I had to do I made it. Do what you have to do to get where you want to be in life and stop being so dependent on strangers. Now give me back my damn pancakes if you aren’t going to eat them! (Yuck I would never lol) But that is how the conversation should have gone but I digress.

Have you ever been rejected by a homeless person?

You vented. Well done. The man didn’t want $10 worth of pancakes, he wanted $10. worth of dollars. I have selected one legitimate charity to which I donate and that’s it…no more.

What an asshole to do that to you!I find that disgusting!I agree with ken he wanted the money and nothing more, wanted to but a bottle probably. But that is not the point, the guy should have been thankful, you were giving him something and did not have to and if he was homeless then he should have been very grateful for the food! Excellent work D! As you know I love grind my gears! This was a really good one on a topic not often written on!

I can feel your frustration as when I read on, I feel it too. I have this experience of not appreciated by people. Anyway, we just follow our heart!

What a jerk! That was very ungrateful of him to turn down food. That’s one of the first things they say when they ask for change. They want to use it to get something to eat. I have never been through something like that. I usually give them some change and keep going.

Oh my goodness I don’t believe that someone who is homeless would actually refuse food. I would think that he would be hungry because of his situation.

If ever I do give, I only give food and never money because you never know what they\’ll spend the money for and most of the time its not for food.
