True story of the day, I got lost in France.
Wikipedia
When I left Lebanon to come to America I was fifteen years old. I Have never really been out of the orphanage except to go to school two and half miles away and to Beirut when the orphanage would take us once a year to the beach. We left Lebanon in a hurry went to Cyprus and than to France. We didn’t have an adult with us, just my sister and I. We were staying at an old lady’s apartment. I was doing my job well as a little sister. I was getting on my sister’s nerves. She said just leave me alone. You see she was eighteen years old and understood well the danger of not being able to come to the USA we didn’t have a visa yet and we have been turned down for refugees visa and things didn’t look good for us. We could not go back to the orphanage.
So this one day I went out of the apartment to go for a little walk and I got to see something that I had never seen in my whole life. They were having a marathon. hundreds of people running with numbers on their back. I got so excited I began to run along the side of them for about twenty minutes or so when I started feeling kind of tired I stoped and dawned on me that I don’t know where I was at. I could not remember my way home and my sister didn’t know where I was. I didn’t even have a phone number or address to where we were staying. My heart was full of fear, I was in a panic at first but remembered the big church by that apartment complex ” Notre Dame” and I could see the big steeple or the dome of it from a far distance . So I began to run and run toward that dome. Thoughts were going through my mind as I was running what if I don’t find the way back , what will happen to me? how will I tell the police where I need to be. Thank God I found my way back once I got to that church. I was afraid at first to tell my sister I had gotten lost but I never left her side after that day.
