All about a day spent scavenger hunting with my best friend. This is not to be attempted. This is how it was done – to leave a smile on your face, and spooky delights by your toes.

Hey, if you like to explore, you probably would love scavenger hunting.  It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s a whole day adventure.  Where to go is the hard question.  Who to take is the easy question, your best friend of course,  now you feel like Tom Sawyer ready to head on another adventure.

First, you must find the perfect old house.  The scarier the house looks, the better.  An old willow tree in front would excite the mood.

Making sure the house is vacant.  You wouldn’t want anyone to think you’re a burglar.  Your best friend can take a lookout for you, making sure there isn’t anyone watching.  It’s like playing cops and robbers, and you’re not even doing anything wrong.  However, be careful, in the steps to come.  Peep in the window first to see if all is safe for the go ahead.

Going inside is full of thrills.  You start to feel your heart racing.  Feeling of expectation fill the air.  Lots of questions fill your mind.  What’s behind door number one is one question you’ll ask yourself.  A few steps further you’ll be asking, what’s hidden behind the rickety old staircase besides cobwebs.  Cobs are a true sign the house is vacant, unless it belongs to the Herman the Munster family.

Wipe the cobwebs from your eyes and keep moving, waiting for what else is new, but old in this old house.  Exploring, is like a dream you must find the ending to.

At this point, you might be thinking of using a flashlight.  It’s starting to get dark outside.  You wouldn’t want to trip on rickety old boards.  Old homes look scarier at night, especially when a willow tree is hanging over the entire yard.

Your’re feeling brave now, like Scooby Doo.  Then your friend say Boo, you jump real high not knowing if you shouldn’t run straight home.  The excitement of it all makes you stay, to find that one special treasure, even if it’s nothing but old salt, and pepper shakers, that looks like hillbillies.  They might have belonged to Jessie James or someone famous like that.  Who knows!

With smiles on your faces, you walk slowly out the door, still checking to make sure, you’re alone.  You walk home with big smiles on your faces, as if you’ve caught a whale or something.

I liked this, it reminded me of when I was a child. Me and my cousins would play haunted house. It was such a buzz just like you describe!
