A short real life experience narrative on my investment journey.

Joining campus  was a real eye opener form me, I met  new people ,made  new friends  and in no time I was well accustomed to campus life .I looked forward to each day because to me it was truly  a new experience ; wake up ; go to school ;attend classes for a few hours ; maybe go to the library for an hour ;hung out with  my friends ;go home  and the next day the cycle begins again. Of course you all know that a lot of spending was involved in all of this; considering that the cash I spent was not as a result of any hard labor on my part, I had a minimal understanding of the importance of applying reason before expenditure

One and a half years into campus and the Kenya -Re IPO  came at a very affordable price , note I only remember because this marked the beginning of my financial revolution . I did not buy the shares but the IPO led me to realize that a lot of us walk through life with our eyes half open  and keep wondering why we are left behind by the band wagon of success, only to relies our own ignorance is what has gotten us to the sorry state we find ourselves in. It was during one of our usual chat ting sessions with my friend , that she made an unusual revelation ( at least it was to those of us like me who were somewhat naïve) one of our friends had bought the Kenya –Re shares during the IPO. Believe it or not my jaw almost dropped in disbelief ,of course I feigned normalcy as various questions begun running  through my mind .Where did she get the cash ? How did she even think of this? Why would she buy the shares? and so many other types of questions flew through my mind. As I begun to digest this new piece of information, I realized that opportunities are everywhere we just have to reach out and take them for ourselves.

I decided to venture into this new world and see what it held for me, I had heard a lot of good things and I was very optimistic. My enlightened friend was very helpful as she gently guided me through the pros and cons and gave me all the basic know- how , even giving me details of her  stockbroker who she said was very good and quiet reliable . I spent time coming up with a saving plan and was worked really hard to ensure I had enough to begin my investment life.
