This is a Journal entry I had to do for school about if I lived in Arizona about a hundred years ago.

Journal Entry

March,5,1884

Hello I am Jesse Robbins, my family and I just moved to Flagstaff Arizona and this is supposed to be our new home. I live in a small cottage with no neighbors for miles. One day my dad took me out on a ride to teach me to hunt. As we were riding along I saw these trees on the ground, all   them fallen over. I went over there to investigate curious to see what animals were in the holes but when I felt the tree it was as hard as rock. I was sure well pretty sure that that was a tree if I have ever seen a tree before but it was as hard as rock. My dad told me that these had once been trees but over some sum of years it had turned in to stone. Well after seeing something like that I took it upon my self to look for some other cool things later the next day. Why riding along I saw this huge scar in the ground. Now I knew what this was from all the stories I have been hearing about Paul Bunyan. I knew this was from him dragging his ax in the ground when he got tired in the dessert. This was the Grand Canyon. And the Grand Canyon was even more grand then they say. I took it upon my self to go down there and investigate. This was the biggest river I had ever seen. It was moving faster than any horse I have ever seen. This was the Colorado river. After this long day of exploring I knew that this was the greatest place ever.
