When i was 9 maybe 10 i used to go to a little corner shop called “Smiths.” It was a shop that must have been designed for me!   It sold  kits ie model aeroplanes, model tanks, and boxes of little plastic soldiers in grey or green moulded plastic.   Being the person I am, I painted my model soldiers as per the instructions, dark blue for Germans, khaki for British and American troops.

Lets fast forward.  I’m all grown up [so I'm told] but are our leaders and Generals?   Presently, in Afghanistan I do believe the battle plan is all wrong.  I don’t have military training and I would never ever claim to have, however I do have common sense!  In Britain we are sending our loved ones into battle riding in no more than a 4×4 [SUV] car.  What happens is that road side bombs explode killing or maiming British soldiers. 

The subject of under funding comes up in Parliamenton a regular basis,  The current Government will wheel out a quote from an aged former military adviser saying everything is fine.  Its not fine!  I have nothing but respect and admiration for British and American troops, I do want military advisers to wake up!  My reference to plastic models of soldiers is no way a criticism,  My point is simple the insurgents, terrorists, call them what you will do not wear uniforms of all the same colours, ie I’m wearing red the enemy is wearing blue so shoot at the blue! they hide in their own back yards, mingle in with law abiding people.

We need special agents spy’s if you prefer, to infiltrate their groups, find out where they live and eat and then and only then deploy the Cruise missiles, the drone aircraft, the ground troops properly equipped, not in SUVs but tanks armoured cars.   To win a war in some ones back yard is historically very difficult, then to rebuild their country even harder.   Lets not try to fight a war with 19th century tactics they don’t! find them expose them if necessary kill them but stop our boys dying needlessly we are intelligent nations stop killing our troops and play the game the way the enemy does,  but better then we will win and bring our troops home.

A census pole was taken 2 weeks ago in Britain and 62% of the population want our troops home, not tomorrow or next week but now! re group and fight the good fight on the terrorists terms.
