A true story about taking care of my mom during her final days.

We thought we’d update y’all on what’s going on here on the homestead. It appears as though the Hospice Dr. & Nurse came up with a workable combination of pain medication, to make Mom more comfortable. She still has some pain while moving. What you are about to read will boggle your mind. Let me start off by saying the X-ray came back negative, so we still don’t know why Mom has pain. {Displaced hardware is suspected} Well, about 4:30 A.M. Thursday, Mom managed to shimmy off the end of the bed between the side rail and foot-board. While on her adventure she managed to somehow stop and prepare herself for her trip to the commode by putting in some “spit curls”. YES YOU READ IT RIGHT—–THE COMMODE, THE CAN, THE TOILET. So, it seems as though getting there was only half the battle. Now when she realized she couldn’t get back up due to severe pain, and saw our little white dog in the hall, she figured we had to be near by, and called for the both of us. After hustling downstairs to find an empty bed, and an occupied toilet, we realized our dilemma so; my wife rushed into the kitchen to get some pain medicine-{which took all of 10 min. to start working}-. I sat down on the tub opposite Mom while my wife lowered the bed, and told her I would support under the shoulders as she supported her rears. So, with a bit more pain and a few more steps we had Mom back in bed, resting comfortably. Needless to say she slept through most of the following day. I say most because she woke up about 7:00 P.M. and talked about her adventure. Now she didn’t fall or anything-{thanks to the non-skid rug my sister furnished us with}-And said she’d never do that again!! Just to make sure she’s resting well through the night, my wife  will be staying downstairs for the next few days. The reason this happened is because the monitor was unplugged by mom’s hairdresser who needed that particular outlet for the hair dryer, so we got no reception  from the upstairs receiver. Oh well, that’s all for now. And let me close by saying every day is an adventure.
