My first day at the orphanage and how I remember it.

this is “My life as I remember it” Day one:

I was only two years old when my mom and dad died.  I had a brother and three sisters.  What is next?

My uncle had five children of his own, no one wanted us.  They decided to put us in an orphanage.  I remember the first day.  We were in a car and all I remember is the entrance to the orphanage and the long yellow fence all around it.  I was too small, so I don’t remember my mom or dad.  As a little girl I used to have their picture on a piece of a cedar wood and I would put their picture under my pillow in hope that I would see them in my dreams.  The lady that was waiting for us at the orphanage, I remember her talking to us but I am not sure what about.  They put gasoline on our hair to kill the lice that we didn’t have.  They did this to all new comers, whether you had lice or not.  One of the worst things about not having your mother and father around is that you don’t have anyone to protect you.  Except for having God looking out for you.  This is how it has been all my life.  I am now 40 years old.  I can’t tell you that I miss them any less.  When I was a little girl and I needed a hug they were not there for me to get one or if I had a fear they were not there for me to tell them about it.  That was all that I remember of the first day.  This blog is to be continues My life as  I remember it.
