About a little boy with Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

And in the mist of all of this Sam spoke is first words,”Mommy, mommy, love.”  Emily scooped him up and grabbed a kitchen towel, placed it on the underneath side of his nose and got him into the car.  Joe driving and Emily calming Sam as best she could.  At the ER they placed Sam in a room right away and got to working on him really quick.  Emily was so grateful.  Sam had infact busted his nose, but nothing was broken and he did not have a concussion, so he was allowed to go home.  They took him home and got him to bed relatively easy for Sam.  And then Emily got to have her first few moments of peace without the adrenaline pumping through her and without the control she had to have around Sam to keep everything like he needed.

She wept and wept and wept some more.  Joe asking if she as alright.  Her saying she was fine.  And she was for these were tears of thanks, tears of joy, tears of answered prayers.  For this night God had answered her prayer for a miracle.  Sam was fine, but Sam had also said his very first words.  And it was Mommy and love.  Whether it was that he knew that she loved him or that it was he loved her did not matter.  He knew who she was and he wanted her, he needed her and she knew that love was involved.  This was enough for now.
