It’s not like it was when I was a kid.

When I was younger my friends and I eagerly awaited summer break. We had the whole three months planned out by January. We would spend our days going from one person’s house to the next, riding our bikes, roller skating, swimming or just wandering around through the trails in the woods. The only time we stayed indoors was if it was raining, and sometimes that couldn’t even keep us in. We didn’t have the internet, video games and cell phones to keep us occupied, we made up games and found things to do.
One year my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to have a pool. We gathered the shovels, a tarp to use for a liner and hooked up the garden hose. Then we went to work in the front yard. It ended up only being about three feet deep but we had fun, until my grandma came home from work. Boy, was she upset! She made us fill it all back in and we had to use our own money to buy grass seed to fix the lawn. We decided to just stick to going to the lake after that.
