The metamorphosis of a first time father.

I am John Jacob. Helen and I got married just 2 months back.  I never  told my wife that I was a short tempered fellow who never regretted any of his abrupt and rash actions. I expected her to find it  out all, all by herself.  And she did within two weeks. Had discovered some unexpressed bad habits too such as: I was rude and I could never phrase any of my sentences either in the question form or  answer form in a soft or mild and tranquil manner; indifferent to any bad occurrences; a kind of a sadist and so on.  But full marks to her.  She never complained and put up with me with great patience.  Probably she was trying to reform me by her tolerance.

One day  about  six weeks after marriage, she said somewhat casually that she had become pregnant. I gave no comments.  “So what?” I reflected in my mind silently.

Then I heard a voice from within;  it was  probably my inner person. “Hey, idiot and a half, you are going to be a father, fool.  Why don’t you feel happy about it…?”

“All right, I shall think over it,” I told the other guy.

About a fortnight later, I found Helen inside the toilet,  vomitting profusely. After a long gap I peeped in and said, “You all right, Helen…?”

She did not reply and continued  her vomitting.  After fifteen minutes or so, she came out, went inside the kitchen and started munching something.  Was it her second  breakfast? I wondered.
