My dad is 81 years old.
Hey, I’d like to share an interesting fact about myself. I’ve been posting poems and articles on Triond for a few days now, so I figured I’d let this personable online community in on something that everyone who knows me…knows. I am the son of a 81 year old man. Now, currently I am seventeen, so that means he had me when he was 64. But still, holy crap, right? That’s usually what I hear the first time I tell someone.
Its weird having “oldest dad in the world.” I get my good sense of humor from him, so I share this fact with anyone i’ve known for more than 24 hours. If I meet someone with one of my friends, its more like 24 minutes, though. Its a great way to break the ice, as you can imagine.
I personally enjoy all the nicknames I get: “Grandson,” “Great Grandson,” and my favorite “Viagra Baby.”
They’ve given my dad some pretty good ones too: “Methusela,” “Father Time,” and his favorite “Legend.”
My mom on the other hand gets some pretty tasteless ones that I would rather not share, lol. She’s only 48, I might add.
He really is “the man.” He’s pretty much God when it comes to the omniscience. He knows just about everything under the sun. He designed our house, he owns his own engineering company, he basically popularized the use of vitamin pills, he’s traveled all over the world, he lived through the Great Depression and several U.S. wars, he’s missing two fingers, and so much more. I love my dad. I wish I would have joined Triond before Father’s day, but whatever. Here’s to my dad.
