About the story of Palestine since 1948 to the current crisis in Gaza.

I am writing to inform you and hopefully many others who read this article of the humanitarian crisis that has been undergoing in Palestine since 1948.

The First Invasion of 1948

I was 21 years old living in one of the many olive trees in one of the many olive orchards. I was very tired so I lay in the tree and slept till dusk.

My brother woke me at dusk; he told me to come back to the village quickly but would not tell me what was happening.

It was July the 11th 1948. I remember it all like it was yesterday.

When we got to the village he Zionist were forcing men, women and children out of the houses at gunpoint. I remember my best friend being shot when he refused to exit his house.

All the men and boys were rounded up and imprisoned in a mosque because our small village was refusing to sell its land to the future Israel state. My wife and my only son were allowed to go home.

My 16 year old brother and I along with 1,500 other people were taken to this small neighbouring town called Jalil where were denied food and water for 2 days. Every one of us was interviewed numbered and put into rooms for 1 week where 100 of us were made to share a small room muck like the concentration camps used by the Germans to kill the Jewish in world war 2. We were given the minimum amount of food and water as possible. I did not hear from my wife, son and mother for nine months. My father however, I never heard a word from him ever again.

After nine months we were expelled from Jalil by Zionists foot soldiers hoping to form the new country of Israel over the rubble and ash of the torched Palestinian cities and towns.

We were expelled and gunpoint and only given the provisions of food and water we could carry. We walked for days and ate from the unripe fruit of the olive and fig trees. After 3 days we were met by a patrol of armed Zionists who fired at us. A boy next to me got shot in the head so we had to leave him behind.

(This is a true story told to me by my grandfather who was told it by his father and I have taken the liberty of translating it into English from Arabic so that you may know how the people of Palestine have been wronged throughout the last century. Its not just Gaza now it’s been like this for 60 years.)

During the years of 1984 and 85, 750,000 to 900,000 Palestinians were excluded from there homes by the Zionist force. Some were excluded by the soldiers in person with greetings of gun fire, and others fled when news of the catastrophe spread across the villages, towns and cities of Palestine. 450 towns and villages were taken over by the Zionist forces.
