I’ve been in the secret service for 10 years now, and All I have to say that it is the toughest job I have seen so far. You seriously have to follow the president wherever he goes. The first few days on the job with President Obama were pretty stressful with the parade and all the other things. Over all ten years, I’ve not once seen anybody try to kill the president. I’ve seen threats and small attacks that were not aimed directly at the president, but they were all just one or two crazed people. Most of them were from foreign countries.

            The scariest incident that I’ve been involved in would have to be the time when we were in Iraq protecting George Bush and a group of seven or eight people came at us with guns and knives. Unlike all the other attacks, these guys were organized and came at us from different directions in groups of two or three. There were four of us surrounding the president including me, and there were eight more surrounding the entire area. All of a sudden three guys started shooting at us. They killed only one of us before we got them. Then the second wave came. They came from all directions and we tried our best to hold them off until the military troops could come in to handle the situation. We didn’t have any heavy armament except for two machine guns. I was lucky enough to have one of the powerful weapons. In the end we managed to keep the president alive with only eight people dying. I got wounded in the arm with a pistol round, and I’m just lucky to still have it attached to my shoulder.

            I hope nothing like that ever happens again. If it does, then maybe we will be more prepared. Like I said, it’s a tough job. We have to be ready for anything at anytime.
