This would be considered my best creative writing piece, have a read!
What is the worst thunderstorm you have experienced? Tell me and I’m prepared to top that because the one I experienced was the worst thunderstorm in history. It happened in 2009 when I was fourteen and visiting my mother’s grave. I was not alone there because I knew how scary the cemetery was. Although I knew that no ghost would appear out of tin air in the cemetery and haunt me, I decided not to risk it by going there myself so I went there with my friend called Nathan. I was burning the roses I put beside my mother’s grave when the fire blew away in seconds. The wind was petrifying!
I was really stunned when I saw the flames disappeared and so was Nathan. I never noticed the wind until I saw Nathan shielding his eyes and moving with care. I fell onto the mud between my mother’s grave and someone else’s and that was when I noticed how strong the wind was. I saw Nathan a few metres away and I walked slowly towards him. I finally spoke “Let’s get out of here.” My eyes then felt a flash and the willow tree nearby fell. Lightning! I looked around for a place we could hide and found an angel statue. We ran to that and prayed to god for our safety. Then I felt the ground shake and a massive noise built-up and blew my ears. Thunder!
About one second after I heard the thunder, I saw the angel statue break into pieces. It was almost in slow motion. I picked up a piece that landed near my feet and read “To the lively and spirited Adam Sandilands, rest in peace.” Then I saw blood drip onto the piece, I got hit by another piece of angel and broke my finger. Nathan screamed and I said “Get out of this cemetery.” Then I ran to the gate, followed by Nathan and that was when we felt like we were drenched. Rain! Then we saw a car on the road.
We screamed at the car with our drenched faces and it stopped just for us. It drove us back to our houses and that was the worst thunderstorm in history.
