This is something that I can never forget, I experienced one event first-hand.

I was on the train on my way home and a Pakistan gentleman was stand next to me with a backpack on.  All of a sudden I became extremely nervous and wanted to get off the train, it felt like some kind of weird premonition and I just couldn’t shake it.  Finally I arrived home and it was just another typical evening until the next morning.  The next morning about 10:00 am I turned on the television and the news was on, they just kept showing an airplane crashing into a building and then suddenly I recognized it as one of the World Trade buildings.  I immediately called a family member, but was unable to reach them because; all the telephones was jammed. People all over New York were calling to check on their loved ones.  Later that day it finally became clear to me why I got the uneasy feeling the day before on my commute home.  Do you remember earlier when I said I had a 2 day assignment?  Well the work that I was hired to do that day was data entry, now I don’t mean to toot my own horn but I type at least 75-80 wpm, so I completed my assignment in one day, this meant that I would not have to return tomorrow.  I was scheduled to be there the next day but it wasn’t my time yet, that is what my premonition was all about.  I am sorry to say that many friends I had met during my employment at the World Trade Center had been killed, which I learned much later.  Watching the new updates it was evident that the impact of this event was felt all over the world.  My heart goes out to the families that lost loved one.  I was very fortunate, and very blessed to have been spared from these catastrophes.

My GF’s sister works for the Port Authority and was there for both 1993 and 2001 and survived. 3 of her brothers are NYFD and were all there for 1993 and 2001 and somehow all survived. They all lost many friends and co-workers.

Great article. I just have to ask this. Do you still fell nervous standing beside Pakistanis or Middle Eastern people now? I’m really sorry for the lost and tragedy but I hope meeting Middle Eastern people is not a weird premonition for a catastrophe to happen for you anymore.

That sounds pretty scary. Thankfully you weren’t hurt while you were trapped at the WTC. You were really high up. My heart really does go out to all of the people who have lost loved ones because of 9/11. It was such a terrible tragedy.

I am surprised you don’t have nightmares. It was a heartbreaking tragedy even for those of us who were not there.
