Is Wartime Relocation Authority and the use of Atomic Bombs on Japan justified?
During World War II many events came up that made the US government have to choose outrageous and even unfair, to some people, decisions. A few of these major events were the Wartime Relocation Authority (WRA) and the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Wartime Relocation Authority was an outrageous organization taking over the lives of the Japanese American citizens in the United States. This is not justified at all. Most of them were born in the US and has no ties in Japan other then there ancestry. There homes and jobs were taken and basically there entire lives, for the time until the war was over. Even though the government came in to help them sell there homes and there properties, it was a must sell so the prices given to these people were not the best of prices. They were on the lower end of fair. I do agree with the means behind this that the government had. But taking away the rights of every single Japanese person is cruel and inhuman. There could have been many others things done to ensure national security. I do not think this choice is justified by the US government.
On the other hand, the atomic bomb was dropped on two major cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Basically killing everyone in sight and incinerating all buildings. This made Japan change there mind about staying in the war Germany had already surrendered. The dropping of these bombs is justified because this is war and in war people are killed, but when these bombs were dropped only Japan was hurt. No, American soldiers were killed after Germany surrendered because there was no invasion of Japan. This saved American money and people. I do believe this is justified by the US government as it ended the war quickly with less or no casualties compared to any other way of war.
As you can see, the US government did much for the “good” of the country but many people disagreed with there ways or their tactics. I believe that taking the rights away from all the Japanese-Americans was wrong and that for those three or fours years those people spent in those camps can never be repaid to them. At the same time I agree with the use of Atomic bombs as they brought a quick and easy surrender of Japan for the United States. These two choices made by the government had many pros and cons. In the end the war was won by the US.
