Who are they?

Their, were at least two hundred soldiers, ridding down in the valley of the vault.  They were heavily armed with swords, spears, and pikes.  The horses themselves were armed in heavy armor with spikes sticking out.  The men had been riding for many months and the ride was beginning to wear on the men.  But the question still remained what were they doing here in the valley?  A strange banner flew and the streamers were foreign to this land.  Their armor shined in the afternoon sun and none of them spoke a word all was silent a small stream of dust that looked like a snake crawling behind them of smoke.  How far had they traveled and what purpose did these men serve.  Who did they ride for?  Where did they get such weapons and what did these men want.  Were they here to pillage or seek safe passage?  Where they here on a peaceful mission?  No one new for sure in the center of the army was a wagon pulling a cart.  The cart had four wooden wheels that wobbled along.  The wagon itself was just an open wooden box with a grey blanket tied down by two brown ropes tied at the bottom center of the wagon.  A green shadow darted across the road catching one of the men’s eyes.  He pulled a small medal tube from his saddle.  He put one end to his lips and blew.  The weariness left them like water in a puddle that was stepped in.  Fire was in their eyes hungry for a fight, weapons poised and ready to strike deadly blows.  They kept their ranks and all were watching to the sides making sure no one was there.  Then another green shadow shot across the rode in front.  The leader of the group of men held up two fingers and pointed to the right.  The men started to group themselves and position themselves for an ambush.  They all new what they would have to do if anything happened.  Some was ready to ride through and come back for a rear attack.  Other groups new they would stay and fight if they had too.  They were ready for anything and they had seen much in the seven years they had traveled together.  Four more green shadows darted along the sides of the men riding.
