A seed landed on the clean floor and the other on the dirty soil. What would happen to them?
Wind was blowing and the seeds were flying.
One of the seeds chose to land on the clean beautiful floor but the wind blew the other seed to the dirty soil.
“It’s comfortable place for me,” said seed on the floor, enjoying its comfort zone.
Seed on the beautiful clean floor saw the seed on the dirty soil and said: “What a poor seed!”
“Why does the wind send me to this dirty place?” The seed on the dirty soil was not satisfied with its condition.
“Don’t worry seed! I am dirty but we will see what you can do,” said dirty soil to the seed.
Day by day, the seeds were still on their respective position. The seed on the clean floor did not change. It was still a seed. It did not grow. On the other hand, the seed on the dirty soil were growing because the soil was fertile. It started showed its tiny roots. It became seedling. It was going to grow as a plant.
The 10th century saying of Jowo Serlingpa or Dharmakirti Svarnadvipa from Srivijaya Kingdom inspires this story.
Jowo Serlingpa or Dharmakirti Svarnadvipa says:
“Planting the seed of pure awareness or goodness does not grow well if the soil is too clean. It grows much better in soil that is dirty and fertilized.”
