The latest chapter of the Kindred Series now merging in characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Week Five: In Two Weeks Part One

“An event will occur on every seventh hour. A trial will occur on every seventh day until the birth occurs on the seventh week and the new family shall arise. On the seventh hour of every time of resting and the time of wake, these words shall be repeated and the blood of one Kindred from warring Clans shall be spilled upon the pages of this book…”

In a dark room, Michael sat still with a single light shining above him.  His hands were tightened in a fist near his knees, his eyes were wide open and sweat dripped from his brow.

A deep voice came from the darkness and said, “Again.”

Michael blinked, tears streaming down his face.

“Dimas, rectidium lamdan,” the voice said.

A sound swooshed through the room and ended with a thud.  Thunk, thunk, thunk.  Michael’s body jolted with each sound, bruises appearing on his face.  He gasped and grabbed his chest while gasping for air.

“Speak,” the voice demanded.

Michael looked forward and wiped the tears from his face. He took a deep though unneeded breath and stared into the darkness again.  The bruises began to fade and Michael’s fists tightened leaving his pants legs bloodied.

“Again.”

“Terra, lichen, trodia paldium,” the voice said.

Zipping sounds filled the room. Gaping holes pierced Michael’s flesh and he screamed.  He bled from his face, his chest, arms, and his body trembled as his wails turned into sobs.

“Speak,” the voice demanded.

Michael closed his eyes while his body healed once again.  He heard voices mumbling and his bottom lip quivered when they stopped.

“Again.”

“Wait.”

Justin’s voice boomed in the quiet room, startling Michael.  The tortured man raised his head and opened his eyes to see the pregnant Toreador emerge from the darkness.  Behind him, Matt followed closely producing a chair which Justin sat on.

“You can stop this,” Justin continued.  “Just tell them what you were doing at that warehouse, Michael.”

Michael glanced towards Justin, trying not to sneer and failing.  He cringed wanting to say something, but merely closed his eyes.
