A rewrtie of a fable.

Jerry and Tom

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the great lion named Tom was sleeping in his forest. A mouse named Jerry was running up, down, and all around Tom. This awakened Tom. He snatched him up and was ready to swallow him. Jerry was very frightened. He cried out, “O Great King! Please spare me my life. If you do, I will help you in any way possible.”

At this, Tom almost fell on the ground laughing. “O silly mouse, how could you possibly do anything for me? You are very small and I am very large; there is nothing you can do for me. But, I am on a diet today, so I will spare you.”

Jerry was very happy that he was spared, and he scurried away. Later that day, Tom was walking through his forest and fell in a trap. Some poachers tied him up and went to get a truck to take him to King Steve. While Tom was sitting there, drowning in self-pity, he noticed Jerry passing by. “O little mouse! You see me here, tied up and unable to help myself. I spared you, so please gnaw my ropes so I can escape. If you do, I will never forget it.”

So Jerry gnawed through Tom’s ropes, and he escaped. Tom said, “Well, little mouse, you taught me something today that I will never forget. Little friends can be great friends. You are a small, great friend.” Tom made Jerry his hero, and gave him a nice home and all the cheese he wanted. And they both lived happily ever after.
