A continuation of my first short story of based off The Odyssey by Homer.

The peace and silence of night was pierced by a morose howl. The howl was so spooky that it caused the equine animals to become very skittish and jumpy. In fact the horses were so hidebound on getting away from that noise that they trampled to young ones that night. A cry came from the parapet, “Invaders on the east side! To your battle stations, men!” Odysseus rushed out of his tent grabbing his bow and sword. He climbed to the ramparts and after finding the biggest mass of enemies he threw himself upon them and attacked them with a fury so fierce the sight of him would’ve turned you to stone. His own wounds were avenged in manifold many a time by the wounds he dealt. The battle raged on for many hours without neither side giving advance nor retreat. The outcome of the battle was finally decided by enemy’s general receiving an arrow to the chest. With a cry the invaders turned and ran dragging themselves and the haggard forms of their companions with them.
After defeating the invaders and sending them back to their fort with their tales between their legs the generals held a meeting. “We must crush them now when they’re at their weakest, exclaimed Bratubus! How long will we allow them to bilk from our children and their grandchildren! They have made us defray the cost of them living here, whose animals have they taken?! Whose?! Ours, dear brothers and with such temerity! Their nocuous odor has hung around long enough let us go stamp it out,” with that Bratubus sat down! So it was decided that they would go stamp out the invaders and who else was picked as leader but Odysseus.
They climbed silently up the ridge that backed the fort of the invaders. Odysseus let loose a volley of arrows over the wall to instantly kill any guards up there and at the same instant a wall of grappling hooks hit the wall. Everyone frantically climbed in hopes of getting to the top alive. Odysseus being the first one up pulled out his bow and picked off a couple guards rushing to the area with one shot. He fired left and right allowing the majority of his comrades to make it to the top before he pulled out his sword and began hacking a path towards the king’s bedroom. Realizing that he had soldiers on his tail he ordered half the division to stay and protect his flank and continued swinging his sword in an arc left and right. He looked somewhat like a lawn mower. When they had finally reached the king’s door they burst in and after killing all his guards ordered him to make his men lay down their arms and surrender. This was all accomplished before daybreak. Upon their return the king threw a grand party for all the warriors that had captured the invaders fort. They feasted on roast and pheasant and beef and heady wine. They feasted like that for close to a week before everything returned to normal. With everybody protected and no one to rescue Odysseus began to get itchy feet, however. So he hired a crew and set out for another adventure.
It was smooth sailing for about three days then a strange wind blew up from the
North-east and carried them far into uncharted and dangerous waters. Where every monster from every old seadogs tale lived. They sailed through the first day without any problems but the second day was cursed. It started out with a green sunrise, always a bad omen to the sailors of old, a sailor who had contracted some weird disease committed suicide, and towards the end of the day they picked up a mermaid. The mermaid was stunningly beautiful but deviously wicked. After she had wrapped them around her finger she turned them all into a bunch of chickens. She left them there without any help bound to either die or end up on someone’s table. As luck would have it a goddess was watching Odysseus and seeing his predicament swooped down and changed them all back into men. After they had thanked her amply they pulled their sails tight and headed for the unknown.
