Life can be so unexpected sometimes. Certain things seem to happen for a reason. Like how I am in a foreign land looking for a boy who reminds me of my dearly departed little brother. Usually I am the one being pursued, causing worry and concern. That is karma for you.

After a long day of unsuccessful searching, I manage to find an inn to stay the night. I have just finished bathing and I am returning to my room when I hear a familiar voice. I look towards the entrance of the inn and see an attractive man talking to the innkeeper. From what I could hear, there are no rooms available. The man is disappointed, but politely thanks the innkeeper and turns to leave. My heart is pounding.

“Hwang!” I call out to him, fearful of his reaction. He turns toward my voice. His face lights up when he sees it is me.

“Mi-Na!” he calls back, seemingly both elated and surprised to see me. He then walks towards me and gives me a hug. I am rather taken aback, never expecting such an emotional response from him. I freeze at first, fearing he will feel my heart beating. But soon I melt in his strong arms, realizing how much I missed him. I close my eyes, enjoying the warmth.

Hwang eventually releases me, looking a bit sheepish. “Sorry Mi-Na,” he murmurs. “I’m just glad you’re all right.”

I look at him, wondering how fate seems to have brought us together. I never expected to run into him here, thinking he was too busy defending Korea’s coastlines. Was he sent here to take me back? Before I could ask him, he replies, “Don’t worry Mi-Na, I didn’t come here to bring you back home.”

“Oh,” was all I manage to say, feeling rather disappointed. Apparently, he did not come for me. For whatever reason, I could not help but feel special whenever he did came after me, like I mattered to him. But it was usually just an order from my father or his superior Admiral Yi Sun-Shin. He was just being the dutiful student and soldier.

    Hi Lady Sunshine,

Thanks for Soul Embrace, I now know where the honor of Mina’s
and Hwang’s love for each other took place!

Wonderful story. It has lots of potential for a deeper plot.
