Colonel Laverick lent on the balcony rail watching as the sun rose over the desert surrounding her new home. It had only been a month since she had first herd about the program and now she was actually here on another world watching an alien sunrise.
‘Colonel.’
The voice brought the Colonel round from her thoughts and she turned to see Daniel Jackson standing in the doorway leading back into the base. ‘Daniel, I don’t think I’m going to get used to this place.’ She replied looking back at the horizon
‘You will but it may take some time. How long have you been out here?’
‘Most of the night I couldn’t sleep, so I came out here. I’ve always loved to look up at the stars. Hell I’ve always beleived there to be life other than on earth and now I’m here on a different planet and I’ve even met alien’s. If this is not my dream job then I don’t know what is.’
‘When we first discuvered Atlantis I wanted to serve there but never got the chance so when General O’neill showed me the M.A.L.P footage of the control room I jumbed at the chance to explore the place further.’
