A continuation of the story of Superman, Lois, and Clark.
We all know the stories of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Clark was the mild mannered newspaper reporter with a big secret. He lived a double life as Superman, the man of steel. He could leap tall buildings in a single bound, he was faster than a speeding bullet. He also was madly in love with Lois Lane, but Lois only had eyes for Superman, never realizing the two were the same. She never saw Clark for the man he was, or the love she could have with him. But I did. This is the part of the story you haven’t heard.
My name is Alicia Sherone, friends call my Lissy. I worked at the Daily Planet with Clark and Lois. I watched the two of them, Lois pining away for Superman while Clark pined for Lois. It hurt me deeply to watch Clark suffer like this. He didn’t exactly realize he was suffering, but I could see it. Everytime Lois mentioned the word “Superman” I could see the torment in his eyes, and feel the ache of his heart.
Now don’t get me wrong, I never started out with intentions of loving Clark Kent or Superman. I was a woman who kept to myself mostly, unlike the famous Lois Lane. I tried never to meddle in another person’s affairs. Clark and Lois were just friends to me. Not even friends, aquantances really. We worked together, but rarely socialized. They were the star reporters, and I just stood in the background. While they covered the high profile stories, I covered the minor things, like the attendance at the anual auto show. It didn’t bother me one bit. I enjoyed my job and my quiet life. But that was soon to change.
I had one talent, being observant. Hardly anything went unnoticed by me, which could be why Clark’s anguish pained me so. Most others didn’t realize the severity of the situation, not even Clark, but I did. At the time I had no feelings towards Clark other than friendship. I also had no ill feelings towards Lois, I admired her bravness and tenacity, I just thought she could occasionally be a fool. However, the day came when I’d had enough of the turmoil between them, and I could hold my tongue no longer.
For little over a week Metropolis had been plagued by an upsurge of crime, and nobody seemed to understand why. The editor of the paper, Perry White, decided to team me up with Lois and Clark to see what we could come up with if we put our heads together. So the three of us sat at a little cafe discussing the problem at hand. There had been a bank robbery the day before. Superman showed up just in time, as he usually did, but the pilferer managed to escape. We had an idea as to who it was, we just needed a way to prove it. Lois, as ambitious as she was, felt it necessary to interview the suspect himself, but Clark wanted to take a safer route.
