Prologue
The year was 2012. Day was December Twenty-first. Time was Twelve O’One A.M. The day the Mayan calendar ended. The day and time I was born. My name is Alexander Black. This is also the exact time and day that the world went dark. By dark I mean everything in the world electronic quit working and not just for a few hours or days. They just stopped working. Many planes crashed. Some very good pilots managed to control crash there planes but some 1,700,000 plus people lost their lives in these crashes. Total anarchy struck the world. Many nations fail to the chaos. What is known that these lines of energy appeared all across the world crossing in locations and places that were very close to many latitude and longitude lines. Known as lay lines. These lines give off what seems to be a natural electro magnetic pulse. So the world went dark. I grew up in a world not unlike medieval Europe except for we have high-rises and skyscrapers and they had castles and towers. I have been on this world for approximately 18 to 19 years give or take, we don’t exactly keep track of time like the world before use did. I currently live in the Lone Star Federation which was once a part of the former United States of America, made up of the former states of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, parts of Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Tennessee, and Mississippi, plus portions of northern Mexico near the Rio Grande. My parents died when I was about five years old I kind of remember them but my father’s most trusted friend and business partner Jackson “Jack” Kingman. He has been taking care of me in my families private estate in the city-state of Lone Star City formally Dallas-Ft. Worth along with his wife Samantha, son Nicholas and two daughters Jennifer and Katharine. My father had grown up in Texas and Oklahoma, my mother on the other hand was originally from Scotland. They met in College while my father studied abroad. It turns out I’m very special in that I’m what’s become know as a stream-runner, a type of mage that can draw on the energies of the lay lines and energies around themselves to boost their natural abilities. This is my story, the story of how magic came back to Earth.
