A zombie outbreak was reported in a small town in the west. It is up to a group of mercenaries to investigate the source. What would they find in the abandoned test site located accross the sea?
Prologue
“Y’know, I think zombies are cool.”
The mouth that said those words belongs to the least intelligent member from our party, Vaughn. Although I approve of his marksmanship, I think he would need a little bit of a brain.
“How so? I don’t think flesh eating freaks would be considered ‘cool’.” Said one of the members of our party, Jack. He was looking far away to the sea. Maybe remembering his earlier life as a pirate?
Vaughn chuckled. “I mean, didn’t you saw the movies? Being chased by a horde of monsters that’s hungry for your brains. Isn’t that exciting?” he said as he played with his favorite revolver.
Well, if zombies are after brains, I’m sure they won’t go after you.
A light laugh came from my right. “Whether it is exciting or not, we will experience it when we are there. Though my intuition says it is dangerous. If you make just one mistake, then there will be the end of you.” That was the voice of the always smiling man beside me. Will was a priest who trusted in physical strength as well as magic. Behind that smiling mask of his lies a man of brutality. Never forgave his foes.
The boat rocked lightly in the calm waves of the night. Not a single light was seen except the moon.
“One thing for sure,” I said as I puffed my cigarette. “They are dangerous. Smart, agile, and freaky looking. You don’t see those every day.” They all turned their attention to me. “I want you all to be careful. I don’t want any of you to be undead food. Is that understood?”
The party nodded simultaneously.
“Good.”
I’ve been dealing with many problems in the world. Robbery, murder, arson, anything that breaks the law. All because of the establishment of the Good Company, a company I’ve made that’ll do anything to gain money. It was quite some time ago that I was alone in doing cases and requests. Now I’m packed with all the interesting characters around the world. This would be my first case dealing with the undead.
“But really,” said the gunslinger, breaking the silence. “Why in the world are we going to an island full of flesh eating nutjobs?”
