Mace Windu: Jedi master, senior member of the Jedi council, second to none (except the venerable Yoda), dangerous Form VII instructor, “so strong in the force, but not that strong.” As his electrically charred, lifeless, handless body fell through the warm Coruscant night air, the question I ask is – what happened to it? As it fell through the catacombs of skyscrapers his body had to land somewhere either ruining some beings day or making it….

The emperor (A.K.A. Chancellor, Sidious, Dark Lord of the Sith) has shown he can be pretty proficient at covering all of his tracks.  It’s very plausible that after he sends Vader to do his dirty work, he sent some shock trooper clones down to retrieve the body of Mace Windu. Although this may be the most realistic explanation there are far more possibilities that prove to be more entertaining.  Did it fall to the bowels of the city planet underneath it all? To some dark, gloomy place to be devoured by the countless vermin and never thought of again? Perhaps it landed in some nightclub or casino where death stick high fools danced with it or bets were taken as to what happened! Perhaps some poor shmuck was going home in his speeder after a 12 hour work shift at the Bacta Tank Corp. just to have a corpse land into his vehicle and make his day go from bad to worse…

Lucas and his team of writers are either geniuses or Jar-Jars. They knew his character had to go (Jedi purge) and probably sat with Jackson to come up with the most action packed way to do so and the powerful Mace, ironically, fell victim to his own words, “He’s too dangerous to be kept alive!” Who else would have his hand cut off, get electrocuted to death and then be plunged miles of stories to his demise? On the other hand  maybe “Mace “himself didn’t sit with them and even he has no inkling of where ultimately his character ended up in the bitter end or perhaps he doesn’t even care.

The question of what happened to Windu’s body can be answered in many ways and scenarios.   More than likely, we will never know what really happened and we’re never meant to know.  It’s good fodder though.  It’s fun to think about for an off-beat article like this one or a late night comedy show on Adult Swim like Robot Chicken (shameless plug)!
