The announcement of my first published ebook on Amazon’s Kindle.
Announcing my first novel, “A Diary of a Friend” now published on Amazon’s Kindle for $2.99. This story was one of my many exciting dreams, I wrote down, but the only one that I turned into a novel and now an ebook. I didn’t just write a book here. As I typed on my computer, the words came alive and I soon lost myself in the story. I no longer saw the write page I was typing on with my computer. I was instantly transformed into another person right before my eyes each time I began to write. I often lost track of time. Hours felt like minutes, days were lost in this new world I had created in a fictional city called Fremont.
With my head phones on, I let myself flow onto the pages with what Taylor wanted to do. I did not prepare an outline. I simply went with the music and the story poured out from my fingers through the keyboard and onto the screen. My emotions and actions soon became real once I was off the computer. I would write until I was exhausted and no more story would freely come out.
I became Taylor McIntyre. Taylor was a 17 year old, brunette half Filipino and Caucasian. She grew up in a fictional small, coastal town in Northern California called Summersdale. After many trips to Northern California in my early 20s, I really enjoyed the diverse cities from Half Moon Bay to San Jose. So in this fictional story I weave some of my own experiences as well as things I would like to have experienced. Her ethnicity is my ethnicity. Her character is slightly more extroverted, but you will see as you read more about her. I hope through the dialogue you will figure out each character. I purposely did not go into race so anyone reading it could realize they were Americans, but more importantly young adults going through college and life.
The story take place during fall of 1994 when Taylor goes off to college with her two best friends Mark and Chelsea. Mark and Taylor have been friends since the 4th grade. Chelsea moved to Summersdale at the beginning of their senior year. Each scene, each word, each action uttered and described in this book came through many tears, smiles, and lessons learned. Taylor would never be the same after this new adventure into college life and life in a band as I have never been the same since I created her. This is the first book, but there is another book following this one. I hope many young adults will enjoy this as well as the young at heart. Enjoy. Stay tuned for the next Kindle book with Taylor and her diary.
