My experience with a roommate situation that went bad…Memoir.

A Moment To Consider

“I need to talk to you!” he pointed at me. Such wonder I had no interest in hearing.  A moment in time cannot go on when words like these cause a daunting awareness deep within my mind.  How is it, that a pin drops silently only for a loud complaint to stir a grievance soon to come.  It was a rude awakening deep inside, that I seldom can’t understand, nor feel that I must face another cruel contempt from someone who leaves me wondering what’s really right from wrong.

I, of course, believe I had every right to ignore this middle-age roommate. His face, crimson feature upon a goatee, a thirty-something age man who loves nothing more than his willful commands, languish outbursts, and dominance of a certain pride in having to look good all the time.  For my lover, I can’t dismiss a night that will lead further than a frame of a painting done right.  This woman is a rock from a stone I can’t give myself enough credit in retaining a partner.  I, being innocent on many grounds, can’t fathom this blink-in-the-eye sudden pause, which will lead to another conflict of parallel rules governed by one crimson-faced man.

As you will be aware, this is a place, by cultural means, where silence of language is overlapped by motions of hands which gravitates an understanding only for those of us who can’t hear, or studies this beautiful American Sign Language.  As words are exchanged through hand signals and body language, each gesture remarks its true form of visual purpose that modifies the need, in exchange of voicing tones.  This was the case, between Harold and I.  Harold, being that thirty-something age roommate that I’m having problems with throughout my feeble time spent in Arizona before I’m off to explore the real world.  Nonetheless the focus was a night when I was celebrating another romantic gift idea I had in mind for my girlfriend, Summer.

I had in mind to take Summer to a park where it’s just within the city limits of Tempe.  The basic idea was that nature endures through nurture and vice versa.  Upon creating a ravishing Italian dinner, we headed out and celebrated our time spent in the park just talking and teasing each other like high school sweethearts.  This dinner was that of encrusted, spaghetti noodles layered by seaside oysters and mushrooms, that sautés in a tomato/vinegar oil dressing, which outdoes itself when made personally on hand.  I was overcome with the recent events, and stuck my finger in the cake, only to take out a tiny smudge that I thought befitting on Summer’s legs.  When she downed her wine, she was surprised by the cold feeling of chocolate on her and gave me a daring smile.  It became a fun game when I would gently smudge her with chocolates across her white-tan skin.  Being this gentleman, I have the job of being creative and making her laugh all the time.  Sometimes it’s a hard thing to do, but can’t be replaced by the immediate results that I see on her.  Once the chocolate cake had spoiled in our stomachs, we were definitely in high spirits due to too much good stuff, and we had enough to call it a night.  I headed back to my condo, where there were four other male companions who share the rights of a safe harbor.
