Early Morning Beauty

I found myself in Traverse City, Michigan on October 18, 2008. In the early morning hours, I found myself being drawn to the water. I headed out the door of the Park Place Hotel and headed to the water’s edge. With my digital camera in hand, I began snapping pictures of my ‘walk-a-bout’. I was mesmerized by the fog floating above the water in the pre-dawn light. There were several metal sculptures along the water’s edge, but this one was my favorite.

I kept walking along the water’s edge, peeking through my camera to see if I thought I could get a good shot with the light available to me. My next picture incorporated the color of fall with the tree in the foreground, the serenity of the early morning fog, and the beauty of a lake shore. I never had such a peaceful morning in my life; I was finding beauty with my camera – and it surrounded me.

As the sun blanketed the lake and the fog lifted, the beauty of fall was evident. I walked along the beach in this picture, admiring the everyday beauty that we often rush past and miss completely. While it was quiet and serene, there was still the early morning bustle of those having to go to work.

Colors of the Season

While walking through this park, scattered with playground toys and walking paths; I was greeted by at least a dozen Traverse City citizens who were enjoying the chilly morning air during their brisk morning walk. It made me feel even better knowing that strangers can still greet each other with a smile.

The Postcard Picture

I saved the best for last. With the early morning light just brushing the tops of the rocks, I took this picture while walking around the marina. The clouds, the light, the walkway… it all seemed to come together for that one perfect picture.

Perfect Getaway

What does Traverse City have to offer? Romantic Bed and Breakfasts, sunrise/sunset walks on the beach, miniature golf, fun parks, coffee houses, and plenty of photo opportunities. While it was my first trip to this beautiful city – it will definitely NOT be my last.
