A Rant.
I hate to pack. You would think after being a Navy wife for 16 years (my husband had four years of service before I met him) I would be an expert on packing. Sad to say it’s not true, packing brings out the worst in me and I usually forget something.
Saturday October 10th was packing day before our much looked forward to fall vacation to Disney World. It started off great, then while cutting the grass my husband ran over a water main and we had a fountain in our front yard. I am sure before he turned the water off we poured four bathtubs of water out into the street.
It was 1000 and I was doing laundry before I started packing. It took six hours, several phone calls, one emergency plumber and $ 157.00 to once again have water in our house.
My stress level was through the roof and packing was an adventure. Several times throughout this long waterless day, I cried in the bathroom.
Finally all was fixed, packing was completed, pizza was eaten for dinner and we put our tired stressed out bodies to bed and set the clock for 0415. We had an early flight.
We arrived at the airport two hours early as instructed by most airlines and found a problem with our flight. We were now booked on an earlier flight and only had 45 min to make our plane. You think the airline could have sent an e-mail or something? We had booked our flight early in February, and chosen seating close to the front with a window seat for me. I love to look out the window on a plane. We were now in the back of the plane and I mean the back, the last roll of seats with no window. I joked with my husband this was not coach seating but hatchback.
Arriving at our hotel, we decided to forget about the last few days and have a great vacation. Disney is after all a place of magic.
On our first full day we had the joy of an unseasonable October heat wave. The heat index was 102. At 1300 we went back to our hotel for a cool nap. I woke up with a fever and chills. We spent the rest of the evening in our hotel room. I was better the next day but had the sore throat from hell for the next three days. I was soon better and the heat wave broke just as we left for home.
