Memories are treasures that we store in our memory banks. Nothing else can be so personal or so special as your own private gallery of memories!
Locked in my memory are visions of places and things. Some are beautiful and some are sorrowful, but my gallery of scenic places beats many a flashy photographers magazine layouts!
I can close my eyes and bring forth the memory of the beautiful wild roses that grew along the dirt roads in eastern Oklahoma when I was a child. There were many bees that visited the roses and although terrified of bugs I would watch them as they danced about the delicate flowers and made their little buzzing noises. Tender grass felt soft under my bare feet as I played with childhood joy among the flowers and trees gracing the yard of the old farmhouse.
The sky was such a deep blue it looked quite perfect. I loved to lie in the grass and look up at the sky. I loved to watch the clouds and imagine they were angels, dinosaurs, dragons or castles. Days seemed long and were happy for my siblings and I. Each day was a treasure each day provided a memory to cherish for a lifetime.
With our dogs and cats to keep us company we had adventures sometimes together other times I found solitude in the orchard and with a cat or kitten for company.
In the country the night sky is a masterpiece of sparkling stars. There are no other lights like in town or the city to distract from the beauty above you. Even a small child cannot help but marvel at the beauty and mystery of the night sky.
Seasons change as time flows on and as we grow so do the treasures in the mind. The viewing can take place almost anywhere or anytime. There are no fees, no walls or buildings with a guide. The viewing in my mind is as free as the air we breath.
Until something steals my memories like an accident or an illness my treasures are secure. I call my gallery to come forth inside my mind and can see my favorite scene of the moment. My gallery has grown and my mind still finds room for more and more significant visions of life, of earth, air, sea and sky. I have a lot of animals to remember, friends, family, people, places and things. Thank God for my gallery of visions to view and remember.
