As a Christian, I try my level best to relate everything I do with the sole purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ. I was asked to write and article on “Terminal Illness"for a small christian magazine, and being quite frank here, it”s not like I can even begin to imagine the sufferings of such and person and their families and so as I set out to write this article, I tried to be general on the fact of the illness, but hard and bold on the fact that, no matter what the circumstances, there is a God and He is seeking your fellowship, especially in the times of your deepest pains. Be Blessed
By definition, a “Terminal Illness” is a complete loss & degradation of health, because of deadly symptoms caused by a variety of factors or diseases. A person handicapped with such a disease is now destined for death and chances for recovery are very very slim. Not many people who contract such illness ever recover. Instead they are subject to a slow rate of degradation, during the process of which they may be tormented with bouts of agony, painful treatments, a partial or complete loss of their mind, leading ultimately to death. To have someone in your family, a loved one suffer from such a torment, will be heart-breaking. Even worse is that you yourself suffer from it and now there is no hope for you. All your chances of recovery have been broken by the doctors. And now death is knocking on your door. Will you answer it?
Death is indeed man’s greatest enemy. Nothing else can some as close to destroying your dreams, your aspirations, your hopes as death can. It is an unexpected and mysterious experience for which we are all destined. And the saddest thought is this “We know it”. We all do. And yet we do everything in our power to push it away. To deny death it’s power is to fall directly into the enemy’s trap. A trap of complacency. To not pursue God in all things. But instead be lax and calm. Not weary and shedding tears of sorrow. But being happy with an unrighteous joy that we obtain from this world and everything in it. But there is one who has overcome death. He went into death’s strongest place and defeated him there, going through unimaginable pain and torment for you. And on the third day He rose in victory to be praised as the King of kings and the Lord of lords and to take back His rightful throne, seated next to His Father in heaven. All this so that you might know what life truly is. And all those who have believed with all their hearts in the resurrection of the Son is now destined for life everlasting. An eternity to praise the name of God. To leave all the pain on this earth and to be filled with joy everlasting. It is a promise we must all look forward to with great eagerness. The realization of this promise will free you up.
