Ancestor Paper
Hi, my family’s heritage is from different parts of the world. My mom’s family settled in the United States in the 1700-1800. My dad’s ancestors came on the Mayflower and later during the 1850s moved west. My mom’s family settled in New England, Virginia, Nebraska, and Illinois. My dad’s later generations of family settled in Washington. My mom’s family emigrated from Germany, England, and Poland. My dad’s family emigrated from England, Ireland, and Scotland. My mom and dad’s families both came to America for a better life.
Some of my mom’s family moved to Virginia and became Tories (followers of Queen Victoria) later due to the Revolutionary War, they sided with the Queen. After the war they were kicked out of the United States border. Queen Victoria granted our family land in Nova. In later generations we moved back into the United States and settled. Another event is when two brothers in our family came up with the company Magic Chef. The brothers invented the oven switch, and patented the invention. After this they realized the American Dream: Work hard and prosper. My great great grandfather and grandmother came here from Germany… from Frankfurt. They settled in Nebraska. They farmed the land to support and to care for their families. They were close knit… of course there was no TV …. Cars… they got around by horse and buggy. Everything took place within a few miles… there lives were simple but very hard. There lives consisted of a lot of hard work from sun up to sundown. My grandmother’s mother’s mother’s mother came from Illinois, her father was a doctor and her mother’s family owned a boot manufacturing company. They eventually moved to Texas. From there they moved on to California. They all seemed to stick together following one another where they moved. They thought that the United States was the land of opportunity. My great great grandfather’s brother… his uncle Charlie fought in the Civil War. He was decorated and honored for his bravery. While he was absent from his family and from his farm. He got behind in his property taxes, and they came to take his only milking cow. My great great grandfather defended the cow because it was the children’s source of milk. It was a big commotion and eventually was settled because the judge knew of Uncle Charlie’s good service in the war. My grandmother on my mother’s side was born in San Francisco in 1938. My Grandmother’s mother’s father was an inventor. He invented the first baby car seat and he had a frog farm…later he lived and had a repair shop and rented boats…he was a real character. My mother’s father’s father lived in Boston and owned Lewis Wharf… he was an architect and sailor…he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean with one other person. Another event is when my mother’s father’s mother cousin name was and she was accused and burned at the stake in Salem Massachusetts during the witch trials.
