I’ve noticed that after I’ve been featured on the "Hot Content", any other articles I comment before these articles are in the "Hot Content" end up getting featured in the "Hot Content" too!

Just recently, two of my articles had their fair share on the ‘Hot Content’ list – ‘Commenting: I Was Very Wrong’ and ‘Derren Brown Predicts The Lottery Numbers Correctly’. So this morning, I sat down to spend a lovely Saturday commenting some people’s work. Finally, after commenting a lot of articles, I decided to step out for a bit and do a bit of homework. Maths questions over, I decided to pop back on to Triond and scrolled down to see the ‘Hot Content’ list for September the 12th, 2009. A shocking sight met my eyes – articles that I commented earlier today, had shot up to the Hot Content list!

In the picture below, 6 out of the 10 articles featured in the ‘Hot Content’ were ones that I had commented on before they featured themselves there.

You might say, well, they might have got loads of comments, likes and views. Yes and no. Some writers are quite prolific so the ‘Hot Content’ is common for them but I checked some of the others and not all of them had loads of comments and likes but still got into the ‘Hot Content’. I definitely had to have more comments and likes if any of my articles were to make it to the ‘Hot Content’. I haven’t been as lucky as these people. I was amazed and for some reason really surprised. It’s not the first time this has happened, when a few of my other articles got featured in the ‘Hot Content’, I noticed the same phenomenon.

Opinions do differ. Some might say the ‘Hot Content’ is a failure, some might say glitches and some might say they deserve to be up there, but I say, WOW! I can’t believe that this actually can happen and I am more excited than my own articles featuring in the ‘Hot Content’.

I think if this happens to others, then this is a brilliant way to give other writers yearning for their spot in the ‘Hot Content’ their fair share of the pie! Really prolific writers can support other young starters by promoting them this way to the rest of Triond. I am truly excited and surprised and I’m glad that the articles I commented are being given their time in the spotlight. I don’t know whether this is me over analysing things or whether this just happens just because the writers are truly good and my article doesn’t really affect their time in the ‘Hot Content’ but if you are me, you will be amazed too. Looks like Triond has more secrets than we can imagine!

If this happens to you, or other prolific writers where your articles feature in the ‘Hot Content’ but when you comment others’ work, it pops into the ‘Hot Content’ too, then please do say something by commenting below.

This is indeed an amazing find. Atikin you keep surprsing me with revealing all these patterns through Triond and then sharing them with everyone else.

You also take great pride in your comments, and leaving a possitive impression on the author.

Keep it up! You’re definitely a valued and gifted member here on Triond.

Cracking the Hot 100 is not always what it is cracked up to be–especially if one has never cracked it. I’ve been at Triond for almost a year now, and I have yet to get more than 10 comments or “thumbs up” for any of the nearly 200 posts I have here. Still trying to crack the code and rack up them votes, comments, and more importantly pennies.

congrats! Atikin for having landed articles on the hot list. Yes this past few weeks many including me are questioning the manner or the criteria about picking this so called Hot List. To refresh you , I’ve been in Triond for a year now and there was some time that my works are consistent on the list. And mind you each received more than a thousand viewership and it definitely helps me a lot in term of exposure and monetary gains. But lately the composition seems to get a new twist and in a way in affect many writers here. h I am thankful that Triond looks at the welfare of all its writers, giving new writers some encouragement through featuring their works in the list. However, I must say it is much better for Triond to come out with 2 separate lists. One for the Hot List and another one, that way both sides of the coin could be rewarded.

I have not noticed this myself…and nor have I been on the Hot Content list for a while.. although it changes so fast, maybe I missed it

  • Littlekid137 on Sep 13, 2009

Wow that is veryinteresing. I wonder why that happened.

  • martie on Sep 13, 2009

While I have made the hot content list myself, only one of my articles ever had a thousand views before it hit….While I still don’t know how the hot content works, I know being on it adds views to these articles so I am glad it is there to help us increase our readership.

That is fascinating. I hadn’t noticed it. I was on the hot content list regularly before July when I took a month off and I haven’t been on since. I can’t say it bothers me much being on the list. It is just so nice to have comments.

Way to go Atikin! Keep up the good work. I see you’re gaining a lot of popularity on Triond. I hope you become a recognized writer one day.

  • gianne on Sep 13, 2009

You pay attention to everything and not just what serves you individually. Thank you for writing about what you see.

  • Lostash on Sep 13, 2009

Maybe you have solved the mystery at last Atikin! I’ve still never been on there, photos never do!

  • PR Mace on Sep 13, 2009

An amazing find. Sadly, I am not there is week but I was last weekend. So keep commenting on my posts so I can make it again. You must be a good luck charm.

  • CA Johnson on Sep 13, 2009

That’s great! I hadn’t noticed either, but I think that is really great.

  • Ruby Hawk on Sep 13, 2009

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean when you are on the hot list and comment on other articles, they often jump to the hot list? I’m a little dense here. Forgive me.

  • LoveDoctor on Sep 13, 2009

That is great that you noticed that detail. As for Hot content, I have only seen two of my articles. Maybe the cool girl one was a success. thanks for your comment on that one.

  • cutedrishti8 on Sep 14, 2009

    Very nice one to share..

  • KryshaMayer on Sep 14, 2009

Looks like I’m going to start commenting!

  • WriteEditSeek on Sep 15, 2009

The Hot Content list is a huge enigma to me. I’ve had a few articles get on it in the past few weeks. But none of these articles have been particularly popular. Most were put up there with only 20 views or so. That bean burrito pizza recipe in your screen shot above only has 44 views right now. It could be indeed be that your magic comment catapulted it to the Hot Content! Thanks! ;) LOL
