My trip to the blue lagoon.
I remember the trip when I went to the Blue Lagoon. It was during the summer of 2005. I was on a trip with my brother and some other people. The trip was started by an organization called People to People. We were visiting different countries around Europe. The first country we stopped at was Malta. When we landed and the door to the plane opened, a massive heat wave burst into the plane. We stepped outside to see a rocky landscape and very old buildings. I thought I was in Iraq. We all traveled to the hotel we were staying in. We traveled to the hotel by bus. The bus was very old and loud. When we got to the hotel, we split up into our designated groups, or room buddies. We went up into our room to find it utterly barren. There was one small window which had no view. There were three cots and a sink. We weren’t allowed to drink the water because it was contaminated. When we got there it was late at night. The chaperones didn’t let us go out so we went to sleep. The next morning I woke up with a light sweat on my face. Our group met at the bottom on the hotel where we had breakfast. It wasn’t good it was mostly bread and bland cereal. After everyone finished their breakfast, we all went outside and walked on the boardwalk.
“Today we are going to visit the Blue Lagoon. First when we get there, we will go on a boat ride to see the caves on the Kamino Island,” my leader said.
Kamino is a small island off of Malta. We all walked to the boat we were going on. The boat had no air conditioning, which we desperately needed. My brother, some friends, and I sat at one table and played cards. It was hard to concentrate on the game because it was so hot. My skin was throbbing because it was so hot. We all looked at each other to see who was sweating the most. It took over an hour to get to the island. When we got there, we all looked out into the water to see many jellyfish with a multitude of colors. We stepped off the boat to see the rocky outcropping of the island. We walked along the crusty coast to find three speed boats waiting for us. We all got in, and we went to some remote island to look at the caves. The driver pulled into the caves and we looked down into the water. We saw so many cool things like coral and fish. Even though we were far into the cave, it was lit up by the sun traveling through the water. After spending some time in the cave, we went back to Kamino. When we got back half of us went to a banana boat ride and others went to go swim in the Blue Lagoon. I went on the banana boat ride. It was very scary because you get rocketed up into the air all the time and there was jellyfish all around us. Even though I was scared, I had the ride of my life. It was one of the most fun things I have ever done. When we got back, everyone who went on the banana boat ride herd that our leader was stung by a jellyfish. We all laughed and jumped into the Blue Lagoon. It was the perfect way to cool down. The water was so clear that you could see every little thing swimming in the water. While we were swimming, we all got stung by jellyfish. It stung but it didn’t really linger. After we all got stung, we all grabbed our water bottles and collected them. We collected many jellyfish before we had to go back to Malta. We all got onto the boat where we began sweating again. While we were traveling back to Malta, we looked out into the ocean and saw a beautiful sunset. It looked like a giant paintball gun hit the horizon and spread a burst of colors which spread into the starry sky. When we got back to Malta, we went to our hotel to eat dinner. The dinner was awful. I didn’t like just eating bread all day. Even though the food was awful, the activities we did during the day were fun. This day will never be forgotten in my mind.
