A Funny, short story about a little girl who loves animals and a mommy who enjoys seeing life through her eyes.
This past week my family and I had the opportunity to visit Disneyworld, while there we also stopped by Seaworld. We had been to Disneyworld the previous summer but had not explored Seaworld with our 6 year old daughter. My husband and I were looking forward to the reaction we would see from our animal loving little girl. We were not dissapointed. While feeding the dolphins one of the more playful ones splashed her in the face and then proceeded to jump on the cement overhang of the pool so she could have the unique opportunity to see him up close. The look on her face was priceless.
The dolphin feeding was fun but my favorite part of the day came near the end when me and her were spending time alone watching the sea lions. My daughter and I share our love for animals and it is one way connect with each other. As we were watching the sea lions play, talk and interact with each other, my little girl made a discovery.
On a rock near the middle of the enclosure sat a mommy sea lion and her new born baby. The baby was perched on the mom’s back taking a nap. The scene was so sweet, that me and my daughter were quiet for a moment just taking it all in. She interupted the silence by asking, ” Mommy, that baby sea lion is so cute. I want it. Do you think we could buy it?”
I giggled at the innocence of her question and then explained that we couldn’t care for the sea lion at our house and added that it wasn’t for sale.
She thought about my answer for a minute, wrinkled her forehead in confusion and pointed to the I.D. tags on all of the sea lion’s ears. “Uh Huh, mom, they are for sale too, see the price tags they all have?”
Another priceless moment I will never forget. What a blessing it is to experience life through the eyes of my child.
