The CD holder unit is an extremely fun unit. You learn how to use the machinery and get the chance to use your brain to create a design to hold CD’s. It is remarkably unique because no teacher gives you such a task. The orthographic drawings are confusing because of the different views, but all in all it is an awesome unit touse.

Safety is required no matter what the case, and this unit is no exception. You should be  forced to use safety glasses and push sticks as safety. Before the actual process of making the CD holders, first, you must learn how to use the equipment such as the band saw, drill press, and large sander.  At all times, you must keep all body parts at least two inches away from the blade of the band saw. Also, only half an inch of the blade should be exposed to cut the wood.

When I first heard about this unit, I thought it would be very tough will all the work that had to be done, but it wasn’t like that. Some parts were harder than others, but all in all it was fun. I particularly liked the sanding because I loved the feeling of the wood after sanding; the warm smooth feeling. I disliked the band saw because just nearing it and knowing what it could do game me the chills. I don’t know if I would say I disliked the orthographic drawings, but they were confusing to me because I didn’t get a clear understanding even after it was explained to me many times by not only the teacher, but my fellow classmates and peers. Overall, it was an incredible experience and hopefully we will get to do it again in the near future.

In life, we must learn to work with people that we don’t know and maybe even not like. When I started working with my partner, there were a few dark spots near the beginning where we were tired and couldn’t concentrate on the task at hand. The partnership between me and my partner was phenomenal and worked out incredibly well in the end. It really helped that my partner was good at the nailing which was where I struggled, and it helped that I was good at the cutting part of it because where at and my partnerstruggled.
