Most dreams I’ve ever had were either scary, just plain strange, or what seemed to be an alternate life. One particular morning all I could remember dreaming about were numbers.

I almost always remember most of what I had been dreaming about when I wake up in the morning.  That is,  if I don’t have a rude awakening that jolts me right away into reality.  The telephone ringing or the alarm clock blaring in my ear will certainly make me lose a whole night of dreaming, with only undecipherable bits and pieces coming through at odd times during the day.  Actually I feel robbed when I am not able to relive for a moment my dream world.  It makes me feel a sense of loss that I just can’t explain.

One particular morning, I had to get up early to take my husband to his job as a sailor on a sand dredge on Lake Erie. The alarm went off and I lay still waiting for something to flash in my brain that would tell me where I had been all night.  The only recollection I had was seeing  two sets of numbers: 300 and 746.  Alright I thought.  I must have been bowling in my dream world.  I did bowl on occasion, with a high score of maybe eighty-nine.  Could be I’m going to get better, perhaps?  Darn alarm clock anyway.

My husband and I had the “All you need is a dollar and a dream” mentality, hoping someday to hit something big on the lottery, but not wholeheartedly believing we ever would. We still kept trying though,  spending a few dollars here and there.   This time we were headed for another state and we thought what the heck.  Lets try those numbers I dreamt of on the daily number drawing.  Maybe it’s an omen.  Maybe this time we will get lucky!

That night, I sat in front of the television with my step-son and step-daughter waiting for the live telecast of the numbers drawing.  The numbers one through nine are written on little white ping pong balls and are in a bingo machine.  There is air inside that blows the balls around to mix them up well and a man or woman conducting the drawing releases a lever and a ball will pop up to the top. Just before the first ball was released, I started chanting -” three, three, three”.  The number three popped up!  Okay, coincidence I thought, with a surreal sense of excitement building.  Next of course was “zero, zero, zero”.  Zero popped up!  And then the third number  “zero,  zero, zero”.

When the third zero popped up, I thought my stepchildren were going to kill me.  The little green monster was showing it’s self quite profoundly on their faces.  I’m sure it was just that they would rather it had been them to win five hundred dollars.  I most likely would have felt the same.

What a thrill this was for me!  And  finding the number in my dream was doubly awesome.  I believe there is a lot of information in dreams and they are not all intended to be interpretated with symbols.   Dreams are private matters and  only the dreamer can really interpret his or her own dreams.

I still think about that day once in a while and wonder if it was just a coincidence or did I somehow see into the future?  Nothing like this has ever happened again in my life. I told myself its because I blew the money on frivolous items.  But maybe it is because I’ve had to wake up to a blaring alarm clock almost every day of my life since then!

I will be so pleased when the day comes that I can throw it out the window!

Great story and well written. I also believe that things we dream have meaning or give us warning of coming events in our lives. I think our dreams give us a glimpse of our future. Well done.

nice article. This is my own understanding, dreams are the graphical representations on what is in your sub-conscious mind. While I believe, God will give us the wisdom to understand when you will die. So as to let us have some time to say good bye to our love ones.

this is nice, you’re such a lucky person.people say dreams are the opposite of reality, but i don’t think so,it could be and it could not be.years ago, i dreamt of a man telling me of the winning combination for a small town lottery, i put a bet on it and I won.it was such a remarkable one that I will never forget it because it happened two days before Christmas and I had only 20 bucks on my pocket then.

I wish I could remember more of my dreams. I think they are our subconscious mind’s way of telling us what to do. I don’t remember much of my dreams, but I’m going to try to remember more of them.
