This poem is about a lost soul, one of life’s challenges to find a path to follow. It’s about me, stuck in a rut.
In high school,
I should’ve payed more attention
I should’ve studied harder,
without exception,
listened better
But I was a slacker
I applied to college
without a plan
without a calling
Everyday I moseyed to class
if I didn’t skip, I cried
and let my self get behind
Part time student
became full time dropout
full time cashier with a smile
I let my parents down
but I’m still searching for my dreams
and the life thats right for me
Square one kind of sucks
but enlightening all the same
freedom doesn’t know conformity
so I’ll get a new tattoo
and follow my heart to
find a happiness that’s true
