These blessings continued coming my way throughout that summer when God taught me He truly will meet my every need according to His riches in glory.

It was the summer of 1988. I was a single mom who had lost her job. My children were 17,15 and 5 years old. I was down to my last $5.00 and we had run out of food. I decided to trust God would provide for tomorrow and took my $5.00 and walked to the grocery store thinking about the best way to spend the little bit of money to feed my children.I recall praying that God would help me to use the $5.00 wisely so my family would have enough to eat. as I walked down the block getting closer to the store, I tripped over something on the sidewalk. I still don’t Know what it was since when I looked around I didn’t see any thing I continued walking and I tripped again. This time I fell. As I was picking myself up I noticed something was stuck to my shoe. I lifted up my foot to remove whatever it was and you can imagine my surprise when I saw a 20 dollar bill folded in half on the ground next to my foot. I looked around to see if anyone was near that may have dropped it but oddly, I was the only one outside on the block. I bent down and picked up the folded bill and was surprised to find that it was fresh and crisp as if it had just been placed there. Needless to say I was able to buy my family plenty of food for dinner and even have food for the next few days. But wait thats not where the blessing stopped. A few days later the pastor of a church several miles from my home stopped by with a check for $100.00. These blessings continued coming my way throughout that summer when God taught me He truly will meet my every need according to His riches in glory. Somehow all my bills got paid and my family never went hungry. The Blessings continued flowing and I found another job that was much more suitable for me and my family and it paid quite well. I will never never forget the summer of 1988 because thats when I really began to understand that God loves me and will take care of me .

Throughout the years the blessings have not only been financial but have come in many forms. I’ve learned to appreciate good health as a blessing since I work in the health care system. My children who have grown into wonderful adults are a blessing to me always. Having the opportunity to care for my mother in her own home for her last days on earth was an amazing blessing. Each day as I wake up I am excited to be here and am anxious for my day to start so I can see what blessings it will bring.
