About the trials and tribulations of Suka’s dating life.
With my seatbelt on and Alex holding one side of my face, in what would have been a tender gesture (accept for the chewing), I was unable to move in any direction. I had to submit to his chewing, which I am certain he thought was passionate kissing. I finally got him out of the car and went home. When I walked in the house, my roommate immediately said “what happened to your face?”
On Monday I went to work and told my good friend Wayne about the latest in my data saga. He laughed and said “you know Ellen and I hated each other after our first date and we never would have gone out again if her best friend hadn’t dared us to try it one more time. Alex drank a lot of different stuff, he was probably a little loopy and nervous, you should give him another chance, and in fact I dare you to go out with him again.” Silly me, I can’t pass up a dare.
Alex and I went out again the following Sunday. He seemed to think I really liked him. Looking back I feel kind of bad because the second date was misleading. We had a nice dinner and I found out that he’d gotten his medical degree in Grenada. I don’t know if anyone but me remembers a short lived TV show about medical students who didn’t have good enough grades to get into regular medical school, so they end-up on this Caribbean island at a questionable medical school. I’m pretty sure this medical school in Grenada was similar, except the real deal. Maybe you can only graduate as a Pathologist from Grenada, so there is no chance of working with live patients. We didn’t have much to drink at dinner, so I was thinking that our goodnight kiss might be tame. I was wrong. It was everything it had been on the previous date, and he tried to get me to come up to his apartment. It was at this point that I had to cut it off. I didn’t tell him the second date was a dare; I just said that I had to get up early for work. He begged me a little, which was not attractive at all, but finally, gave up.
Back at work on Monday I gave Wayne an ear full!!! Later that week Alex called and asked me to move to Grenada with him. I graciously declined and said that he probably needed to focus on his medical training and didn’t need any distractions. Then I hung up, and never heard from Alex again. My face did eventually lose its red chewed upon look.
